Welcome to the Grand Lake Chapter of CPCU Newsletter!
I shall strive at all times to live by the highest standards of professional conduct;
I shall strive to ascertain and understand the needs of others and place their interests above my own;
I shall strive to maintain and uphold a standard of honor and integrity that will reflect credit on my profession and on the CPCU designation.
Great News!
The Circle of Excellence Program provides chapter leaders with a framework to increase the CPCU Society values in providing revelvant knowledge, empowering professionals to succeed, and engaging future generation of leaders. Based on Grand Lake Chapter’s 2016 objectives set and everyone’s hard work our Chapter has obtained the status of Gold Circle of Excellence for the second year in a row!
Notification was also received on October 6th from CPCU Society regarding the award of $1250 for the Recruitment and Retention Challenge for 2017. This award paid chapters on retaining the new members that recruited during the “Hawaii” year and any new members for the 2017. I am thrilled and honored that our new members feel that our chapter is worth being a part of. We will be planning some fun with the money in 2018.
Past meetings
Wednesday, April 26, 2017, Celina Group hosted a CE credit semiar on, “Hoarding – An Extreme Claim Situation”. Presented by CRDN – The Textile Experts. Did you know that Ohio is the largest state in the country for hoarding? This was an eye opening presentation regarding this very serious topic.
Thursday, May 18, 2017, the Griffith Ins. Education Foundation/Grand Lake Chapter of CPCU Scholarship Award presentation was held at Willow Bend Country Club. Emily Grone, student at BGSU attended the dinner to be recognized for the scholarship award along with her parents. The program for the evening was presented by Hartford Steam Boiler and the topic was on Cyber Liability.
Sunday, June 11, 2017, the Grand Lake Chapter had a family day at Parkview Field in Ft. Wayne, Indiana to watch the Fort Wayne Tin Caps take on the Lansing Lugnuts. Even though it was the hottest day of the summer, fun was had by all except the disappointing loss by the Tin Caps.
There were no meetings in July and August.
September 7, 2017 – Step Up. Give Back. Move Forward. was the theme for our September Chapter Meeting. At this meeting the new designees were welcomed, the chapter objectives were explained plus an overview of the benefits of being a CPCU.

Contining Education
Reminder that you can check your continuing education credits online by signing into the CPCU Society website: https://www.cpcusociety.org/ and then clicking on the heading for Education and Events/Earn CE Credits. There is also a valuable handbook available from the left-hand navigation on that page under “Help.” I have also attached a copy of this handbook below.
Also when you sign-in to the Society’s website there is a link to our local chapter website, please take a look at the different information regarding the chapter along with many artricles and pictures of the activities that have happened so far this year.
