Welcome to the Grand Lake Chapter of CPCU Newsletter!
I am very excited to be serving as your Chapter President. Being a CPCU and having an active role in our Chapter is very important to me and I’m thrilled to have this opportunity.
Our Chapter Leaders and Committees have been busy planning another great year. More ideas and more hands are always appreciated. Please consider volunteering your time and talents by joining a committee or getting involved with a meeting or event. You might be surprised how much fun you have!
I also encourage you to share your ideas and suggestions at any time with myself or any Chapter Leader. We’d love to hear from you!

Grand Lake Awarded Platinum Level
The CPCU Society’s Circle of Excellence Recognition Program awards each chapter for its efforts to achieve benchmarks in chapter performance. The Program provides chapter leaders, and committee and task force chairmen, with structure and guidance to achieve strategic, chapter and member goals. Chapters earn Platinum, Gold or Silver recognition by achieving key initiatives of the Society's strategic plan.
The Grand Lake CPCU Society Chapter has been awarded the Platinum level for the 2017 Circle of Excellence Recognition Program. In May, we will receive a Circle of Excellence medallion and will have it on display at an upcoming meeting. Congratulations Grand Lake!
March – Ethics Awareness Month
The CPCU Society recognizes March as Ethics Awareness Month. To bring awareness to our Chapter, the Media Committee shared a few thought-provoking exercises concerning potential ethical issues that may arise in our use of social media. Good stuff!
The CPCU Code of Ethics can be accessed at https://www.theinstitutes.org/doc/canons.pdf. As a CPCU, let’s strive to live and work each day with the highest ethical standards!
Military Care Packages
The Buckeye Insurance Professionals and the Grand Lake Chapter of CPCU joined together again this year to donate and ship items to active duty soldiers that are currently shipped overseas.
The success of this project was huge this year – 40 boxes, stuffed full with items, were shipped to our brave servicemen and women.
Items included personal care items, snacks, games, personal thank you notes, and gift cards so that the soldiers can purchase Wi-Fi to help them communicate with their families back home. The soldiers helped this year are all friends and family of some of the group members. This giving event is just one small way these two groups are able to give back to others who deserve so much!
A huge THANK YOU to everyone who donated and volunteered for this worthy cause!
